Yep, it’s back-to-school time, which for most of us means it’s time to get back to work and workouts. As you gear up for September, think about adding Pilates mat to your workouts. Pilates gives you those long, lean muscles we’re all after, and helps shore up your posture when you’re getting back to long hours at your desk.
A recent article detailing the benefits of Pilates in More magazine says, “rounded shoulders make you not only look old but feel old, too. The compression in your upper bodys cuts of your lung capacity by 30 percent, and may also interfere with your ability to digest good properly. Pilates classes can undo this damage. ‘Pilates requires very precise execution of movements, which translates to doing the exercises with perfect posture,’ says Michele Olson, Ph.D, professor of exercise physiology at Auburn University at Montgomery.
